Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a 100% Central Sector Scheme providing income support to all landholding farmer families across India.
- Financial Benefit: Eligible families receive ₹6,000 per year, paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every 4 months.
- Mode of Payment: Transferred directly into bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) utilizing Aadhaar-seeded systems.
- Exclusions: Institutional landholders, income tax payers, constitutional post holders, and retired pensioners drawing more than ₹10,000 per month are excluded.
Farmers can apply through two primary methods depending on the type of scheme:
- Self-Registration (Online): Visit official central portals such as pmkisan.gov.in or pmfby.gov.in. For state-specific schemes in Maharashtra, applications must be submitted via the MahaDBT Farmer Portal.
- Assisted Registration: Visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or local Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) where operators can process applications on your behalf for a nominal fee.
Keep the following documents ready for most agricultural scheme applications:
- Identity & KYC: Aadhaar Card (mandatory) and active mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Land Records: 7/12 Extract (Satbara Utara) and 8-A Certificate.
- Banking Details: Bank Passbook with IFSC code. The account must be Aadhaar-linked for DBT payments.
- Maharashtra Specific: A digital Farmer ID (AgriStack) is required for applications on the MahaDBT portal.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) offers comprehensive crop insurance protecting crops from pre-sowing to post-harvest stages against natural calamities.
- Premium Structure: Farmers pay a minimal premium: 2% for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi crops, and a maximum of 5% for commercial or horticultural crops. The remaining balance is shared by Central and State governments.
- Coverage: Includes prevented sowing, mid-season adversities, standing crop yield losses, and post-harvest damages.
- Claims: Claim amounts are directly transferred to the farmer's bank account through DBT.
The Aaple Sarkar MahaDBT Farmer Portal is the official Maharashtra Government platform for consolidating state-level agricultural schemes, farm mechanization subsidies, micro-irrigation, and other agricultural welfare programs.
- Application Processing: Applications are processed through transparent First Come First Served or lottery-based selection depending on the scheme.
- Subsidy Disbursement: All approved subsidies are transferred directly to the farmer's Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT.

The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) provides timely short-term credit to farmers for crop cultivation, post-harvest expenses, and allied activities.
- Interest Rate: Base rate of 7% per annum. Reduced to 4% per annum on prompt repayment under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme.
- Loan Ceiling: Credit limit eligible for interest subvention has been raised to ₹5 lakh.
- Collateral: Collateral-free loans up to ₹2 lakh for owner-cultivators, tenant farmers, and self-help groups.
Yes. All core registration procedures on official government websites (PM-KISAN, PMFBY, MahaDBT) are entirely free of charge. If applying through a Common Service Centre (CSC), a minimal, government-regulated service fee may be charged by the CSC operator for data entry and document uploading assistance.
